With 25 locations across NY, NY, TX, and Puerto Rico, I initially avoided 787 Coffee because I was worried it was going to feel like the next version of Joe & The Juice…which was the next version of Starbucks. But it turns out, each location feels a bit different and exceedingly local.

They aim to bring the magic of Puerto Rican coffee to the people and I have to say, they’re succeeding. In fact, you can actually tour to coffee farm in Puerto Rico, a dream excursion for me. But don’t worry, they have local experiences here like a pour over workshop. Some of the locations even serve as co-working spaces so 787 is really operating as a full service situation.

But is the coffee good? Yup. The location I most often frequent doesn’t have drip coffee, but they do have plenty of simple drinks (Americano, flat white) alongside their more fun options like the horchata latte. Even if you’re leaning basic with a plain latte (hot or iced), you can choose to use beans that were infused/roasted with rum or whiskey. Recently, I went with whiskey beans and it made for a particularly great coffee. And when I want a good coffee at home, I use some of their coquito syrup in place of Sweet ‘n Low in my cold brew.
